Inman, South Carolina –

On Friday night, the Chapman Panthers collided with the Clinton Red Devils on the baseball diamond in the first Region III-3A contest for both clubs. A solid pitching performance, combined with plenty of run support, enabled the Panthers to claim a 10-1 win over the Red Devils.

With two away in the bottom of the first inning and a runner aboard, Josh Bledsoe crushed a 3-2 pitch to straightaway right field, staking Chapman to an early 2-0 lead. Bledsoe was 1-for-1 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored to his credit.

"We’ve really swung the bats well since the first two games of the year," Chapman head coach Steven Fusaro said. "We’ve been harping on approaches for about two and a half weeks now. Josh has always been a guy with big time power, big time pop… He has really bought in and is a lot of fun to coach."

Chapman extended their lead in the fourth inning by sending nine to the plate and scoring four runs, including an RBI single from Kane Fisher. Fisher finished 2-for-2 with two runs driven in and two runs scored.

Sky Robinette tossed a complete-game three-hitter for the Panthers and held the Red Devils to one run, which was unearned.

"We wanted to come out and throw strikes," Fusaro added. "Sky Robinette was big time tonight (by) throwing a complete game. It was just an outstanding performance by him. He’s been pitching that way all year."

Next week’s schedule for Chapman (5-0) will feature a region game at Woodruff (March 21st), a non-region contest at Spartanburg (March 22nd), and a home region game against Mid-Carolina (March 24th).
