SPARTANBURG, South Carolina - The success of the senior class and Boiling Springs High School continues as the Bulldogs clinched the region on Tuesday night and became the first ever Region III-5A Champions. History is something that Duncan Park is known for, but Tuesday night, it was the Bulldogs who stole the show. A single from John Michael Faile, a double from Michael Bollinger, an error, and a walk aided the Bulldogs in the first two innings as they jumped out to a big lead which aided them in securing the 6-2 win over Spartanburg. Faile, Streater, Pucetas, Bailey, Brasher, & Bollinger each collected one hit in the victory. For the Vikings, Cash, Hanna, Stevens, Fowler, & Mobley each collected a hit. Spartanburg left runners on the bases 4 different times and Dawson Taylor picked up the win for the Bulldogs. For Boiling Springs, Dawson Taylor threw four innings with Thomas Goff finishing the game with the last three. Conner Stribling finished for Spartanburg. Taylor, a South Carolina commit, finished the night allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, 6 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Dawson threw several first pitch balls, but when the outs needed to be made, he dialed in and cashed in. Thomas Goff also recorded 6 strikeouts for the Bulldogs allowing 4 hits. Coach Lipscomb, Head Coach of Boiling Springs says it feels very good to be region champs. Says "Its hard to do, especially in a tough region and we are glad to be here and get the monkey off our back." Boiling Springs last won the region in 2008, the same year they went on to win the State Championship. When asked what his message was to his team, he quickly answered ,"stay hungry, tonight we went through the motions after we got a lead and we struggled a little bit on the mound and they had the tying run on deck in the last inning. Yes, I'm happy we won the region but there is a bigger prize out there and we have got to get after it." The game ended on a double play where the Bulldogs then dog-piled and celebrated their region title. Assistant Coach Joel Goff also added a statement to the post-game huddle and asked the football players on the team to think about how their season ended. Several heads dropped, as Coach Goff used that as a motivation for the Bulldogs to lock in and finish the fight. Not your typical post game speech after winning the region, but the players left motivated and knowing that they have unfinished business. The Bulldogs are now 9-1 in region play and the Vikings fall to 3-4 in region.

The Bulldogs and Vikings meet again tomorrow at Boiling Springs where the Bulldogs have a chance to win the series on senior night.
