JL Mann Patriots and the Bulldogs line up for the playing of the National Anthem

GREENVILLE, South Carolina - On a night where the Bulldogs & Patriots were facing off, it was the Gamecocks who stole the story. Dawson Taylor, Mason Streater, Blake Jeter, & Jack Stamler are all committed to play baseball at The University of South Carolina. Dawson Taylor had another dominant performance on the mound for the Bulldogs. He threw two innings, giving up zero runs, two hits, striking out five and walking zero. His most impressive pitch was a curveball that froze Blake Jeter for the 3rd strike in the 2nd inning. The other Gamecock, Jack Stamler, went five innings. allowing two runs, two hits, striking out seven, & walking one. On paper, JL Mann played the better game, but the Bulldogs outlasted the Patriots in a 7 inning game that almost went more. Defensive baseball and great pitching is what the crowd witnessed up until the 4th inning. The offensive drought ended when Mason Streater roped a hard line drive off the glove of the 2nd baseman that moved Justin Brasher (Erskine Commit) to third. John-Michael Faile then hit one to first that Blake Jeter had trouble fielding and scored Brasher. Streater later went on to score on a lose ball throw to home. The Bulldogs plated two more runs in the top of the 7th inning to give them a 4-0 lead. Runs came from Beeland & Pucetas. Will Brown's double allowed the 4th run to come in for Boiling Springs & turned out to be a staple hit in the Bulldog's win. In the bottom of the 7th inning is when the rain really started to come down and it seemed that it aided the Patriots. Max Bailey was on the mound for the Bulldogs and had to get out of two sticky situations in order to get the "W" for Boiling Springs. Tomas Frick & Robert Powell came through clutch late in the game to give JL Mann a boost, but it was not enough. Adam Leiszler was earned the 4-2 win for Boiling Springs & Stamler took the loss for the Patriots. Boiling Spring's hits came from Will Brown, Mason Streater, John-Michael Faile, Michael Bollinger, & Chad Beeland. JL Mann's hits came from Blake Jeter, Will Phillips, Myles Daniels, Tomas Frick (2), Robert Powell, & Charles Ives. The Bulldogs will travel to Georgetown this weekend to compete in the "International Paper Classic" before returning home next week to open up region play against Dorman.
