For the 2nd year in a row, Boiling Springs opens up the season against the Swamp Fox of Ashley Ridge. Last season, the Bulldogs had no problem handling the AR Swamp Fox, defeating them 40-6. However, the story lines going into this season are much different. Rick Tate (Boiling Springs, HC) says this is the best team Ashley Ridge has ever put on a football field. The Swamp Fox are in their 10th year of existence coming into the 2017 season. There are several local ties between Ashley Ridge and Spartanburg County, as Doc Davis was the first Head Coach of the Swamp Fox in 2008. The Swamp Fox bring back a Senior QB in Chris Yates that is also listed as a running back.. Younger brother of Steve Duncan (Former AR QB), Matt, is also coming into his sophomore season listed as a Quarterback. Ashley Ridge returns 16 seniors to a junior heavy squad, much like the Bulldogs of Boiling Springs. The Bulldogs (0-0) try to hand Ashley Ridge (1-0) their first loss as they also bring a junior heavy squad into Summerville. The Bulldogs have several question marks coming into Friday with four players missing Week 1 due to disciplinary issues. The Bulldogs still have enough weapons to get the job done as I predict the Bulldogs to pull off a win in Week 1. Dawson Taylor & Trey Miller will provide enough of a running game to keep the Fox honest as the defense gets worn down from Boiling Springs fast paced offense. The game can be heard live on UpstatePrep-Cast.net, Mixlr.com/BSHSRadio, & on the Mixlr App (BSHS Radio). The broadcast will air at 7:00pm.
